Planning a wedding at Holy Trinity.

You decided to get married! Now what? Here are a few the basic details you will need to know as you plan your wedding. Please call the church office at 847.742.2025 for more information. All weddings are under the supervision of Pastor Olin Sletto. Other pastors are welcome to participate in the service after making arrangements with Pastor Olin. A booklet with more details is available by calling the church office.

1. Call Pastor Olin Sletto at 847.742.2025 as soon as you have tentatively selected a wedding date so that the date can be confirmed and put on the church calendar.

2. Weddings can be scheduled for any day of the week. Saturday weddings must begin by 2:00pm or at 7:00pm to accommodate the 5:00pm worship service. Weddings scheduled on Sundays can begin any time after noon.

3. Wedding rehearsals are scheduled for 6:30pm on the evening before the wedding unless other arrangements are made with Pastor Olin. Rehearsals must begin on time.

4. Premarital counseling with Pastor Olin should be scheduled when you set your wedding date. He will also help you plan your ceremony.

5. Flash photography may be taken before and after the wedding service including the processional and recessional. Other photos may be taken with natural light during the ceremony provided the photographer does not distract attention from the service. Videographers may set up a camera in the chancel area using natural light only.

6. Real, cut flowers or live plants should be used instead of artificial flowers. There are 10 pews on each side of the church aisle. These may be decorated with pew bows. We also have pew candles which may be used. Our Unity Candle stand holds a wedding candle with a three inch round base. You will need to provide the unity candle and also two ten-inch side tapers.

7. You must obtain a Kane County marriage license to be married at Holy Trinity or a license from the county where the marriage is taking place if the wedding is not held in the church.  The license must be left at the church office one week before your wedding.

8. Music will be provided by our organist unless you make other arrangements with him. Vocal and instrumental soloists are welcome to be part of the service. In general, all music used in the worship service should be sacred music. The use of our sound system is limited to having our mics turned on. All other musicians must bring their own mics & amps if they need them.

9. Smoking and the use of alcohol are not permitted anywhere in or around the building at any time.

Planning a baptism at Holy Trinity

1. We believe and have experienced that through baptism, God adopts us as His children. Because being a part of God’s family is entirely God’s doing and not our own, we affirm the practice of baptizing infants. Children, youth, and adults are also welcome to be baptized. Non-members are welcome to be baptized.

2. Baptism is a public sacrament and should take place at one of our weekly worship services. Baptisms can take place at any of our services - Saturday 5:00pm or Sunday at 9:30am or 11:00am and can be scheduled by calling Pastor Olin Sletto at 847.742.2025.

3. Pastor Olin would like to meet with families once before the baptism to talk about the sacrament. A book on baptism is available by calling the church office.
