Statement of
Welcome and Affirmation:
Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church, as a community of the people of God, affirms
its intention to openly welcome and value every person who walks through
our doors regardless of age, race, gender identities, marital status, sexual
orientations, national and ethnic origins, economic status, addictions,
and mental, physical, and emotional conditions.
We affirm that we are all unique individuals created by God, in need of
God's forgiveness, and made worthy through Jesus Christ of God's love
and mercy. All persons named and unnamed above are welcome within
the membership of our congregation upon making the same affirmation of
faith that all members make.
At Holy Trinity, it is our pleasure to let you be
yourself. Join the worship or just watch. Say hello or just
blend in. We have three services with distinct styles, so pick the
one you prefer and join us this weekend.
5:00pm Saturday
- Informal Worship
This service
features piano music and a relaxed style of worship.
9:30am Sunday -
Traditional Worship
This services
features organ music, adult choir, children's choirs, a children's sermon
and a style of worship that is liturgical and engaging.
11:00am Sunday
- Journey worship
All of the
elements of this service appear on a large screen. This service is
held in the sanctuary. Converging the old story with the new world, the
service features visuals such as music videos, movie clips, and the
gospel on video. Piano music is also part of the
service.
The sermon for each
of our services is based on the Good News (Gospel) reading for the day.
Communion is offered at every service. Our communion table is open to
all.
Guests are welcome and appreciated! Here a few more answers to questions
you probably are asking:
Who are we?
Holy Trinity
congregation is made up of a wide range of different people, from all
ages and different backgrounds. You are assured a very warm welcome at
Holy Trinity.
When to arrive?
If it's your first
visit, it's best to arrive about 10 minutes before the service begins.
There is a parking lot on the east side of the church with spaces for
visitors. Feel free to park in one of these spaces. You will be greeted
in the parking lot and at the door by our Welcome team. There is a
Welcome Desk right inside the Division Street entrance that has
information for you to pick up about Holy Trinity and our coming events.
If the lot is full, please park at the funeral home across the street,
or in Congregation Kneseth Israel's Parking lot, or in the School
District U-46 lot which is right down the alley. Please note that
Holy Trinity is in the odd-even parking ban district. You may only
park on the street on the side with odd house numbers on the odd
days of the month and on the side with even house numbers on the even
days of the month.
What to wear?
Wear whatever you feel
comfortable in. We accept people as they are. Our worshipers wear
everything from shorts and blue jeans to dresses and suits.
What to expect?
Here's a quick
summary of what you can expect at Holy Trinity. We are a friendly
church, if you need to know something, please ask! The usher will give
you a full-service worship folder. This contains everything you need to
know to participate in our worship service. Services begin and end
with either piano or organ music depending upon which service you
attend. The sermon is always based upon the good news from one of the
four Gospels. Communion is offered at every service every week. Everyone
is welcome to our communion table. You don't have to be a member of Holy
Trinity or even a member of another church. We believe that Jesus
welcomes all. If you don't feel comfortable receiving communion, you can
either remain in your seat or come forward for a blessing. On Sundays
you are invited to come for coffee at 9:00am and 10:30am.
Our aim is that whether you are looking into Christianity for the first
time or have been a Christian for many years, that you should be
encouraged and inspired by worship. We hope that everyone will draw
closer to God.
What we believe:
We are an inclusive
church and believe that everyone is welcome to worship and also to
communion. We believe that everyone can have a relationship with God.
Check out the "What We Believe" page for more information.
If you have a
disability:
Handicap parking is
available in our parking lot. Our building is wheelchair accessible
throughout. There is an elevator just inside the Division Street
entrance that will give you access to all floors. Handicap accessible
restrooms are available on the main floor and in the lower level. We
have seat cushions, large print worship folders, and hearing enhancement
devices available at all of our worship services. If you need
assistance, please don't hesitate to ask for help.
